Laika Ecovip 6 "a space miracle"
Laika is launching a new motorcaravan on the market, Ecovip 6. It is a short coachbuilt, belonging to the Ecovip range and bearing the same features as the other four Ecovip coachbuilts. This motorcaravan is destined to satisfy the needs of three different kinds of customers: (1) experienced motorcaravanners who prefer travelling in a “short” motorhome, (2) customers who buy a motorcaravan for the first time and would like to start off with an easy-to-drive quality product and (3) customers who prefer renting a motorcaravan which is not too long but which can offer 6 berths and 6 seats.
The philosophy behind the new LAIKA ECOVIP 6 is based on the number 6: 6 berths, 6 seating places, 6 authorized seats, a total length of little over 6 metres (6,25mt).
The features of this Ecovip resemble those of the other Ecovips: it is a high segment quality coachbuilt, bearing an oversized luton and the typical two front windows on the overcab which have always identified the Ecovip range since this range was first launched on the market 17 years ago. The Ecovip range – and the Ecovip 6 as well – is built on the 130 hp Fiat chassis, available on the 157 hp chassis, as an option.
The internal layout has bunk beds on the rear wall and a garage underneath, a classic, two-couch dinette and a kitchen in the front part. The dinette can host up to six adults, thanks to the LAIKA EXTENTION SYSTEM, provided as standard, which allows you to increase one seat per couch, thus offering the possibility to six adults to sit and enjoy a meal together. The table can be positioned in three different ways: (1) it can be lowered along the wall, so as to provide huge floor free space that can be used for more comfort or for small children wanting to play on the floor (without fear of head bumps against the table), (2) it can be used as a half table, (3) it can be used in its full length or (4) an optional table 1.30 mt long, can provide even more surface.
The kitchen is fully equipped and – even if not huge, it provides good work space, thanks to a practical chopping board integrated in the sink and to an additional, standard working space board which can be inserted in the kitchen block and used as an extra work space (it can normally be hidden in one of the drawers). The kitchen is equipped with three burners, an extractor fan, a huge hanging cabinet, many drawers, a 150 lt. fridge with separate freezer and a slide-out huge drawer which is positioned under one of the couches and which is easy to reach and use. Storage availability is provided everywhere, and it is the customer who chooses how much space he/she needs. For example, a cupboard above the fridge can be made bigger or smaller, according to one’s necessities. It can be easily adjusted to one’s needs any time.
Another important point of strength of this new Ecovip, is a separation door between the rear and the front part. By using the toilet door and another portion of a slide-out door, you can separate the living area from the night area, thus creating a dressing area with a mirror and a shoe-container hidden in the steps that help you reach the upper bunk bed. The wardrobe is well-sized and bears four shelves. From this very comfortable dressing area you have access to the wardrobe, the toilet, the beds and the garage. If you are in the living area, you still have access to the refrigerator. Laika put a lot of thought into space-saving details: an almost 2 mt long rack for hanging jackets has been placed under the upper bunk bed, thus allowing a potential 2 mt wide extra wardrobe for hanging jackets, coats or ski equipment, all of them easily reachable from inside the vehicle.
Another point of strength of this “space miracle” are the 6 berths: an extremely comfortable luton double bed with 740 mm height above the mattress (besides two windows, a roof-light, two reading lights on both sides and a special courtesy light switch which allows you to switch on and off a courtesy light at the entrance door) and two bunk beds with a width of up to 90 cm and two comfortable berths resulting from the transformation of the dinette. The lower bunk bed can be moved electrically up and down (option), so as to vary the garage volume as you please. A motorcycle rack can be installed at the rear part of the vehicle, as an option.
The Ecovip 6 has a huge double floor. The underfloor compartment is particularly high (up to 31 cm in the area near the compartment door) so as to allow the storage of bulky equipment and to make loading and unloading easier. A portion of the underfloor compartment is equipped with a practical slide-out rack (Laika Easy Loading System) equipped with volume-changing containers an an option. Among the many storage opportunities you can find the garage, which has two access doors as standard (one per side). The right side door is really huge: 123 cm height. This allows easy loading and unloading.
The Ecovip 6, being a high level vehicle, like the other longer Ecovip models, has heated water tanks and piping. Walls, floor and roof are insulated with high-density Styrofoam which makes the Laika motorcaravans particularly fit for winter use. Well distributed warm air inside the vehicle is made possible thanks to the full-power Truma Combi 6 (even if the vehicle is “short”, Laika decided to use the most powerful Truma version). The luton possesses an extremely performing warm air distribution system which makes the Ecovips suitable for very cold climates.
Thanks to the numerous storage possibilities, to the many space-saving details and to the quality of the materials, the Ecovip 6 is an extremely interesting vehicle for those who look for a “small-sized” quality motorcaravan with many features, good design and capable of transporting up to 6 friends.
